MY WORLDVIEW PAPER

This is my final requirement in World Literature.  Overnight ko 'to ginawa...haha

A prostitute who sells her body to support her family, a garbage man who digs up dirt in exchange for some money, a student who burns the midnight oil to get high grades, a baby crying for milk, a robber who risks his life and liberty to feed his family, a beggar who begs for alms and sleeps along sidewalks – Seeing anyone of them makes me think that indeed, Earth is a battlefield.

I believe that we are living in huge arena where all types of competitions exist every time. Each day, we are faced with all the challenges that we have to overcome. There are always deceitful tricks that need to be uncloaked. There are always pieces of puzzle that we have to fit together. Then at the end of the day, there will be losers, there will be draws and definitely, there are those who will emerge as victors. Given this case, who would not believe Charles Darwin in his belief that life on Earth is actually the survival of the fittest?

However, this same competition I think is the root cause of all inequalities we experience. Because of people’s efforts to outdo and overpower one another, they become vulnerable from hitting below the belt. They throw poor judgment against their fellow person; they spread gossip against someone who is on top. Some even cheat just to rule over others.

I must admit though that competition is inevitable in as far as human and life existence is concerned.  We are natural fighters and we are born to compete. Frightening, as it may seem knowing that chaos is always on the go to steal the scene. Nevertheless, I believe that inasmuch as we have the innate capacity to organize competition, we also have the great ability to dictate its governing rules -- rules that will give due opportunity for others to catch up and bounce back to where they have fallen.

The revelations in the Holy Bible, the teachings of Confucius, our ethical standards and our capability to love are some of the things that are taught to us not only by the olden literatures but also by our experiences in order for us to give one another the sweetest battle there is.

The Earth is a battlefield. This is how I view it. And this same ground is where we learn the basics of morality, where we discover who we really are and what is our purpose in this world that may eventually be the panacea in demystifying the mysteries that have long been veiling humanity.

Legal Doorway

My heart knew how I long wanted to turn 18. Why? Probably because I thought I could do more things which I couldn't do as a minor. Now that I'm on the legal age, I feel like I have more freedom to do what I want to to but at the same time, It feels like I got nearer to more serious matters now. My fb account even briefed me about the new conditions I have with it. Seriously, I'm enjoying my new age but I definitely miss being on the minor bracket, though it's been only a week since I left 17. (Ironic, isn't it?)

So let me talk about the things I was up to, the day before the big day. I left home early  to attend the meeting called for by one of my group mates. We were having troubles then with the film we were doing. It was the day before the supposed submission but it was unedited yet -- no dubbing, no voice over, no effects -- just raw files. (Shocks!) So we decided to do all of those after class which eventually was at 5:30 in the afternoon.
The next one hour was our preparations before we go to the editing place, which was my classmate's house.
As soon as we got there, we started downloading the software, converting the files, fixing the scripts and things like that. "After this, we may proceed with the editing then by at least 10 pm, we're done with this.", said one of my classmates. So I was confident that by 11, I'd probably be at home. I was wrong.

That damn conversion alone left us waiting for about 6 hours so we were able to start past 1 am. Since we were all awake at 12 mn, my group mates sang the bday song for me. (That's so sweet of them!) It was 6 in the morning, we were all sleepless, and we were not done yet. (How stressful!!!) We were rushing 'cause we'd have a class at 8:30. In short, we haven't finished the editing.

I left them, still editing,  for me to take a bath and change my uniform. (I was the only who was not able to change to casual 'cause I got the farthest home among them, so I really needed to go ahead of them and wear in another set. Hugas kamay..hhaha). (  I don't know If I still make sense:-I  ). So I got home, stayed for about 40 minutes then went to school for my class. I haven't seen anyone of my group mates that time.

Basically, I was alone after my first class and I got like a four-hour break. I went to my Auntie's house to spend sometime with her, she treated me for lunch as her bday gift to me. Then I went back to school at 2:30 pm. After class at 4, I met again with my group mates to go on with the editing, We stayed until 10 but still, we were not able to get rid of it.

So to cut the long story short, I reached home at 10:30 pm. It was only then that I found time to celebrate my birthday -- when everyone in the house was already sleeping..hhahah. I was eating salad my Aunties have prepared for me, while reading the wall posts and text messages I got from my loved ones. The next day, I saw the cup of melted salad right in front of me. I didn't notice my eyes closed themselves that night, eventually leading me to a melodious sleep.
